TREEspect CIC IS A COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY (Not-For-Profit), WHOSE AIM IS TO ENGAGE AND WORK WITH COMMUNITIES IN ORDER TO ENABLE THEM TO FORGE CLOSER RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR TREES.
TREEspect CIC will provide
Educational information to facilitate a better understanding of the environment and trees.
Independent consultancy in relation to matters of an arboreal nature.
Develop & implement projects that will enhance and promote an understanding & appreciation of the cultural aspects of trees
Campaign for the protection of trees and promote environmental & tree related activities
Offer basic tree care programmes, tree walks & talks and tree trails etc
Operate in collaboration with other tree organisations
We feel that at a time when councils are experiencing more and more budget cuts resulting in a deterioration in our towns and cities tree maintenance communities can play an important role to ensure that the future of our trees is in good hands.
Today we are visiting the threatened Horse chestnut Avenue in Wandsworth, London. Despite leading Arboricultural experts and the Mayor of London condemning the Council’s decision to fell the majority of the avenue the Council seems intent on doing so. We are also hoping to speak with the tree officer of Bristol City Council in order to discuss the proposed felling of a Copper Beech which has been colonised with the fungus Meripilus Giganteus.
We are continuing our fundraising activities which will enable us to help STARTS (Street Tree Arts Sheffield) put on an art exhibition in Sheffield in order to highlight the plight of street trees at the hands of Sheffield County Council and its contractor Amey.
